Why REAP Twitters

During this past week, media outlets reported that celebrity Ashton Kutcher became the first to have more than 1,000,000 followers on Twitter.  I only wish that the REAP Team would have started twittering before he did; we certainly would have benefitted from comparable media exposure!  In honor of this momentous occasion, I thought I should let you know about the REAP Team’s presence on Twitter and, more importantly, let you know why we are twittering.

For those who don’t know too much about Twitter, I won’t be of much help explaining it.  Honestly, I don’t totally understand the fascination.  On Twitter, as on Facebook, you can update your status as often as you like, letting your followers know what you are doing, provided you keep it to 140 characters.  You can also follow other people.  The coolest thing I recently discovered about Twitter is that you can update your Twitter status from your cell phone; for those of us who text, that is a pretty cool feature.  You can see what the REAP Team twitters about by checking us out at http://twitter.com/reapteam

If you want to understand more about Twitter, sorry, I can’t help you, because I’m no expert. Try talking to someone who Twitters (and understands it well), or try reading this portion of their website - http://twitter.com/about#about

But I do want to let you know why the REAP Team twitters.  And it is quite simply because a lot of people are on Twitter, and we want to reach them!  We want to tell them what REAP is doing.  We want to ask for their prayers.  We want to inspire them with a little bit of God’s love.  And we want to keep in touch.

There are people who are on Twitter who might never visit our website, who might not ever find us on Facebook, who might never view our YouTube channel, and who might not ever even attend one of our retreats.  But we just might be able to show them a little more of God’s love through this technology.  And that is why we are on Twitter.

PS - Of course, like any other technology, Twitter can be misused and overused...if you like to smile, check out this video that makes fun of the whole Twittering phenomenon - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5Ff2X_3P_4
