The Genocide of Abortion

Ron Garcia's picture

Greetings and Peace,

As I prayed the sacred liturgy at the Catheral on Oct. 25th, 2009, I had a great sense of peace. I had no idea that Fr. Kevin Schroeder was about to preach one of the most powerful homilies on abortion that I have ever heard in my life. It was very moving and as we begin to think about our pilgrimage to Washington D.C, our desire to defend the unborn, and our march for them on the capitol, I share this homily with you. I hope that it stirs in you a sense of urgency and a desire to boldy fight for the fundmental right that all other rights flow from. The right for every human being to live.

God's plan, Not yours

Every single person struggles with this question. How we answer it determines how we will approach the rest of our lives. Will we seek divine love and wisdom which is revealed through the Church by the Holy Spirit? Or will we be devoured by a culture whose only answer to this question seems to be “serve yourself?” I think that we can see from the experience of our own lives that most of the culture isn’t promoting a more authentic way for us to live out our Christian lives. Perverting is a better word. Christopher West recently said (I’m paraphrasing here) that if you want to know what God holds most sacred, just look at what the culture perverts the most. A Couple things come to mind. Women, Men, the Human person, Human life, the eternal soul, the family, The love between a man and a woman, and the marital act(sex within marriage), The Catholic Church, God, Jesus Christ…and I could go on here. The perversions of these things all have something in common. Read more »

Stop The Madness!

In 2006, I read a book written by John Paul II, it was called “Male and Female He created them, a Theology of the body. It sort of transformed not only my mind but my entire life, my entire state of being. I had only been back in the Church for about 4 years at the time. As I have said before I lost my virginity when I was 14, got drunk for the first time that same year, and two years later I discovered my Father was unfaithful to my mother. I actually had to tell her about it. That is a long story I will spare you the details. Needless, to say, I had a little baggage. Rules were not my thing! Authority sort of irritated me! I was thrust into the middle of a grown up world before I was mature enough to make rational decisions. I lived a life as if the fullest form of freedom was doing whatever it is that I desired. I had no discipline. Read more »

It's not a Democracy..

Ron Garcia's picture

You probably thought I was going to run on in some inflammatory way about the government. The temptation is great, however, I shall resist. Sorry to disappoint you I am actually just going to talk about the Church. Hopefully, that won’t incense anyone.  We should begin with a couple of thoughts to ponder. Did Jesus, reveal to us, a man who was weak willed? A man whose teaching would shift with the time and the culture? Was his intent that we would root ourselves firmly in a man who formed His conscience to the often darkened and weak intellects of the age? Or did Jesus have a plan, from all eternity rooted in the radical self giving love of both Himself and the Father? Did Jesus gather the apostles together and ask them what they thought he should do?
