The Gym

I recently joined a gym and hired a trainer to see me through the first few weeks.  Joining was the easy part, let me tell you.  But for it to work, I have to actually go and work out.  It is easy to belong to the gym. The results come from actually attending, working out, listening to trainer and then living out what he suggests.

Gee, do we see any similarities????  Yes, of course, it is our faith in the same way as the gym.  We all have been given the first course of our faith.  For many of us when we were infants. Our parents had us join the Catholic Faith.  They gave it to us, gosh we didn't even have to pay for it.  But the hard work then begins.  It is not enough to join to say we belong.  For it to work we have to actually show up.  And not just watch.  What does it look like at the gym if everyone else is working and I am just standing there watching? Take part in the Liturgy.  Listen to the goals for our spiritual growth.  Become an active participant.  We all need to be active.  We all need to be living out the message that Christ gave us. Then we must go out and share that message of Christ's love to others each and every day.
