The OYM welcomed three Spring Interns into our ministry team last month. We are excited and blessed to have them join us in serving youth ministry in our Archdiocese of St. Louis! Today I want to introduce you to Katie, so check out somethings she shared with me:
Katie Reitano
School and Year? Junior at Saint Louis University
What are you studying? Theology and Music, minor in Catholic Studies
Home Parish? St. Peter's Cathedral in Belleville, IL
When did you take ownership of your faith?
I was raised Catholic, so I took my religion and faith for granted. I participated in mass and was involved with retreats and youth group, but my faith still wasn't completely my own. The summer after my junior year of high school, I attended my first Steubenville conference. I was awestruck during Eucharistic Adoration on the second night, and that was the moment my faith became my own; that was when it became real.
What sparked your interest in youth ministry?
My experiences with awesome youth ministers through retreats (Luke 18, Youth Sing Praise, school retreats) sparked my interest. I want to be a spiritual instructor for youth during their tough years of coming to terms and grasping their faith.
Recent Glimpse of God?
Through the priest at my confession before Ash Wednesday mass
Coffee or hot tea? Coffee
Farthest place from home ever traveled? Salzburg, Austria
Favorite dessert? Gooey butter cake/cookies
