My Will/God's Will

I thought it would be cool to reflect on something that Jesus said in today's Gospel.  He said, "I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me." (John 6)

So the question I ask myself is, "Am I following God's Will for my life or am I following my own?  Are they different?"

First way to answer that question is by answering the question, "Have you asked God/Jesus?"  If you didn't, that's a good place to start.

Secondly, I think you have to look at who you trust?  If you trust your parent, then you probably listen to their opinion.  If you trust your friends, then you probably listen to their opinion.  If you trust surveys on facebook, then you probably listen to their opinion.  If you trust Jesus, then you probably listen to His opinion.  So who's opinion will lead you to the truth of what is best for you and your future?

I would guess the best person to listen to is the one who loves you, wants the best for you, knows you inside and out, is the one who created you, and knows what you are designed (and created) for.  I guess that only leaves one, or should I say three...FATHER, SON, and HOLY SPIRIT!

I'm not saying that those around us can't help us discern what God created us for, I'm just saying that is where we should start and finish.

Finally, when it comes to the difference of Our Will verses God's Will, I think you will find that they are the same if you are honest with the desires that God placed in your heart.  Keep in mind that if they conflict with Christ's teachings then they aren't from God.

P.S.  Even though I've already realized that God is calling me to be married and be a father (especially since I am married and have a son), I still continue to pray for God's Will in my life.  One thing I ask God every day is to help me to be the man you call me to be and that you created me to be.

You are Loved
