The OYM's New Director
The Office of Youth Ministry is pleased to announce the promotion of Tom Lancia to Director! This coming August will mark Tom’s 11thanniversary working for the Archdiocese of St. Louis full-time. He has served as Coordinator of Youth Ministry in the office for four years. Prior to his time in the Curia he was the Director of Youth Ministry at St. Joseph Parish in Manchester for 7 years, which is also the parish he grew up in.
In 1999 he was working at Enterprise Car Sales when Christ stirred in his heart a longing to a greater service to Him and His Church. This longing lead him to volunteering as a core member in the Lifeteen program at Incarnate Word Parish in Chesterfield for two years. During this time the Holy Spirit began to connect the dots in his life that lead to his calling to serve Christ in youth ministry.
Being raised in a large Italian-German Catholic family with 5 brothers and 1 sister, he learned a great deal about love from his parents, Angelo and Bernice, through their sacrifices, support and love. One sacrifice from his parents that also helped him on is journey to youth ministry was his 16 years of Catholic education from elementary school at St. Joseph to high school at DeSmet and finally graduating from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor of Science Business and Administration, BSBA.
Even though God blesses Tom’s life with his calling to youth ministry, his greatest joy comes from his marriage vocation to Samantha. He has been married for 5 years and God has blessed them with a three-year old son, Angelo, and a baby girl who is due at the end of August.
