Position Description: 

The Archdiocese of Saint Louis has an opportunity for a full-time Coordinator of Youth Ministry. This position is part of the Office of Youth Ministry-Catholic Youth Apostolate and is located at the Cardinal Rigali Center, which is in Shrewsbury, MO. The Archdiocese is a non-profit organization which encompasses 185 parishes, 146 schools, 60 offices/agencies and a Catholic population of more than 500,000.

Position Summary:

The Coordinator of Youth Ministry will be responsible for providing direct support to all parishes and youth ministers through consultation and on-site assistance. This person will plan and execute various programs, conferences and events related to youth ministry. The Coordinator of Youth Ministry will also be responsible for developing, accumulating, and distributing resources that assist parishes in building up youth ministry programs. The Coordinator of Youth Ministry will assist the Director of Youth Ministry in all activities of the Office of Youth Ministry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for overseeing the coordination of any and all events, programs, and conferences and services including, but not limited to, Training Day, Generation Life (Pro-Life Pilgrimage), Project Life, Steubenville St. Louis Mid-America, Youth Ministers’ Retreats, STL Gatherings for Youth Ministers, etc.

• Assists the Director of Youth Ministry in developing new programs for teens and adults youth leaders in parishes in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

• Assists the Director of Youth Ministry, the Coordinator of Events, and others in the Office of Youth Ministry and in the Catholic Youth Apostolate offices with general office duties.

• Travel required to a variety of venues including parishes, schools, and youth ministry events.


• A college degree and at least three years experience working in youth ministry is required.

• An educational background in theology, youth ministry, and/or education is highly desirable.

• Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with Church teachings.

• Must have a youthful spirit, be independent, self-motivated, hard-working and trustworthy.

• Must be able to handle occasional times of long hours and/or high pressure leading up to and during events.

• Must be comfortable supervising and giving direction to others.

• Must also enjoy working with teens and adults.
