The OYM has added a new staff member to our family!  Some of you may know her from her days as a core member at Sacred Heart in Valley Park, as a youth minister at St. Francis Borgia, or even seen her on a REAP retreat!  Since some of you might be wondering who this lady is or what brought her to our team, we asked her to introduce herself and share a little about what brought her to the OYM.  Check out what she had to say:

An amazing  pilgrimage to Madrid, Spain is coming!  On August 10^th, 2011, the Office of Youth Ministry, specifically, Fr. Brian Fischer will be leading a group of young people to Spain for World Youth Day 2011.

If you have never been to World Youth Day, it is five days of  life rooted in God’s abundant initiative of life giving love!  You will receive catechesis from Bishops from around the world, experience a welcoming ceremony for the Holy Father, the living stations of the Cross, a long walk, a slumber party with about a million of your Catholic brothers and sisters(under the starry sky), and of course we will unite our souls in the Eucharist, which will be celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI!  Read more »

    I have been thinking a lot about this years youth ministry retreat.  Recently, while praying the Fourth Luminous mystery of the Rosary, I found myself thinking and praying very fervently for each of you and your work with teens.  I didn’t realize until afterward when I had gone back to look at the Gospel passage of Mark, on the Transfiguration why I was so fixated on praying for you.
     As I read Mark 9, and skimmed over the previous chapters, I was struck by the way in which the Gospel continues to come to life everyday for each of us.  We live it when we live in Christ.  Read more »

The Office of Youth Ministry has given this website a much-needed overhaul. Not only did we upgrade the engine running the website (instead of jogging along like a beat-up station wagon, it's roaring down the strip like a Lamborghini!), we also fixed a ton of little problems with the site and added a few new features.

• Forums: You can now easily reply to other postings, and add new forum topics.
• Calendar of Events: You can add your own events, and view other youth ministry events more easily.
• Young Adults: This section of the site will be greatly expanded in the coming months!
• OYM Picks: Fresh links from around the Internet, hand-picked by the Office of Youth Ministry.
• Image Galleries: Now with 200% more win!
• A fresh new look: Much easier on the eyes, better for modern computers.
