The society of St. Vincent De Paul is one of the oldest and largest Catholic lay organizations for serving the needy in the world. members assist the poor through home visitation to offer food, clothing, utility, rent, and job/counseling referral assistance, as well as a listening ear for a few minutes. St. Louis currently has two young adult chapters, comprised of volunteers in their 20's and 30's, offering these services in the Soulard and South Grand areas; they often hold social events as fundraisers.
