Are You Awake?

The Advent season has now begun.  This means it's time to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ.  The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: "When the Church celebrates the liturgy of Advent each year, she makes present this ancient expectancy of the Messiah, for by sharing in the long preparation for the Savior's first coming, the faithful renew their ardent desire for his second coming.  By celebrating the precursor's birth and martyrdom, the Church unites herself to his desire: "He must increase, but I must decrease." (paragraph 524)

Stirring it Up!


      Paul Masek, the coordinator of the REAP Team of our Office of Youth Ministry here in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, has just published Stirring It Up.  This three-part book project, which was developed with Catholic teenagers in mind, includes a book "Stirring It Up" (practical tips for staying close to God), another book "All Bottled Up" (letters from teens answered) and an audio CD "Stirring It Up More" (which contains additional inspirational material).
