The OYM's New Director

The Office of Youth Ministry is pleased to announce the promotion of Tom Lancia to Director! This coming August will mark Tom’s 11thanniversary working for the Archdiocese of St. Louis full-time.  He has served as Coordinator of Youth Ministry in the office for four years.  Prior to his time in the Curia he was the Director of Youth Ministry at St. Joseph Parish in Manchester for 7 years, which is also the parish he grew up in. May 24 we will have the unique opportunity to gather as the teens of the Archdiocese to pray with and for our future priests! We are blessed to have five men who will be ordained in the priesthood on May 26th and we want to pray with them and for them as they enter fully into their vocations.

The five men are Rev. Mr. Fadi Thomas Maria Auro, Rev. Mr. Donald Thomas Anstoetter, Rev. Mr. Brian Steven Fallon, Rev. Mr. William Francis Dotson, Rev. Mr. Daniel Gerard Shaughnessy!

OYM to Sponsor Presentation for Youth Ministers on Teen Depression and Suicide

Did you know…

• 1 out of 8 youth, age 15-24, suffer from depression
• 90% of suicides are linked to mental illness, which is treatable
• We lose more young people to suicide than the combined top 6 medical causes of death

The Catholic Youth Apostolate’s Office of Youth Ministry will be hosting a presentation on adolescent depression and suicide lead by CHADS Coalition for Mental Health.  The presentation will help youth ministers and adult volunteers learn to recognize symptoms of depression and warning signs of suicide in children and teens, as well as about treatment and therapy resources, coping skills and appropriate ways to address the topic with young people.
